Ground-Dwelling Heaven / Bhūmy- avacara-deva

"Ground-Dwelling Heaven" is the symmetry of "the Sky-Dwelling Heaven". It refers to Four Heavenly Kings and Trāyastriṃśa among the six Heavens in Desire realm.

Four Heavenly Kings Heaven 四天王天

Four Heavenly Kings Heaven is on the lower slopes of Mount Meru, and it is the lowest one among the Heavens.

Celestial beings there have a five-hundred-year lifespan, of which each day is equivalent to 50 years in our world.

Trāyastriṃśa 忉利天

Trāyastriṃśa is at the top of Mount Meru. The top of this mountain is home to celestial beings and saints. Because it has not yet left the ground earth, so it's called Ground-dwelling Heaven (Bhūmy- avacara-deva).

About Mount Meru 須彌山

Q: Is Mount Meru an entity actually exists, or is it the realm seen in the Meditation, or is it just Indian philosophy?

The Venerable Master Hsuan-Hua replied:

Mount Meru is right in front of your eyes, you can't see it, who is to blame? "You are totally wrong when attached with Lakshana, and you take A-saṃskṛta-dharma as none-existence," what can you do?
