Chanting the name of the Bodhisattva can help one to “enlighten one’s mind and see one’s true nature”

Taught by Monk Hsuan Hua

Some people may ask, "Reciting the Bodhisattva's name can eliminate sins and alleviate suffering. I believe this, but why can it also help us "enlighten our mind and see our true nature"?

A few days ago, I used the analogy of making a phone call. Now, let me offer a simpler analogy!

For example, a person is blindfolded. They perceive total darkness all around them, and when they walk, they bump into things everywhere, becoming extremely distressed and suffering. But he didn't know how to remove the binding from his eyes. Fortunately, he met a kind-hearted person who saw his pitiful appearance and walked up to him and removed the binding from his eyes. So, this person who was once blind can now see, is no longer in pain, and no longer encounters obstacles.
