The Venerable Master Hsuan-Hua replied:
The first seven consciousnesses work together in people, and the first seven consciousnesses are governed by the eighth consciousness. If separated, the first seven consciousnesses are not responsible, the eighth consciousness is.
When the eighth consciousness reaches the end and is unable to control the first seven consciousnesses, this person died. When a person dies, the eighth consciousness is the last one goes, when entering the womb, it comes first.
The so-called "the last one leaves and the first one comes, be the host".
The eighth consciousness is the main character, if it doesn't come, the first seven consciousnesses won't work at all. The first seven consciousnesses all came into existence because of it, if it is broken, the first seven consciousnesses are also broken. It is like a carburetor of the machine engine, when the carburetor is damaged, the rest of the parts cannot function.
