When the Bodhisattva was eating delicious food, he thought: "In my body, there are eighty-four thousand worms, and they depend on me for survival. The so-called "depending on each other for life". I will be happy only when I am full, and they will be happy only when they are full. If my body is hungry, so are they. I am eating these wonderful foods now, hoping that they will be generally satiated and warmed. I eat this diet so that these 84,000 insects can survive. But I do not covet delicious food, and do not differentiate between the five flavors of bitter, spicy, sour, sweet, and salty. This is to indirectly provide nourishment for these insects. "
This Bodhisattva thought again like this: "During the long night, I loved and protected my body. In the past, at all times and in all places, I received all kinds of food and drink to satisfy my body. Now I will use all my food to benefit all living beings. May my body be forever free from greed and attachment. "
This is the first method of "sharing and giving" practiced by Bodhisattvas who practice "Giving ".
