Arhat said, "You are not right to say that. Three thousand gold, you didn't come to buy me back, you pay your debts."
He said, "How can it be to repay debts?"
Arhat said, "In the past, the two of us were good friends, went buy something, not enough money, and three were owed. When you didn't have enough money, I were by your side, vouching for you, afterwards, you didn't pay back the money, so I were also implicated. The original three coins, rolling increased, now it's 3,000 gold."
So, you have to know, the money you steal now is a few dollars, but when you pay it back, it's not a few dollars. So, why should we repent? Because stopping the continuity of the mind! For as long as your heart is not repentant, it will citta-santāna (mindstream) uninterruptedly, when you sleep, that thought was also growing. So, after you have created karma, this karma ran into the heart, as long as you don't repent, it slowly increases like a stream of water. That is, we are to repent in time, to turn this karma into a seed position.
