Uncoveringthe mystery of lost past life memories from Buddhist scriptures
Excerpt from "Uncovering the mystery of lost past life memories from Buddhist scriptures"
For example, a mirror covered in dust is extremely dim; if you pick it up and look at yourself, you see nothing. Consciousness is also like this mirror; once it becomes filthy, it loses sight of its true nature, causing it to wander in the cycle of birth and death, bringing about a miserable and obscure existence, and being entangled in fortune and misfortune. It is like the forgotten emptiness and wondrous existence, just as it is like a mirror covered in dust and grime.
For example, in a deep, murky lake, even though insects and fish swim in it, they are difficult to detect.
Life and death are intertwined and complicated. Sorrow and worry obscure human wisdom, thus creating the mystery of the estrangement between birth and death. Once reincarnated, one forgets everything, just like the insects and fish in this turbid water, unable to distinguish between coming and going.
Therefore, the Buddha deliberately appeared in the world to expound the scriptures and enlighten people's minds. If one wants to know and personally witness the coming and going of consciousness between birth and death, one should follow the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment taught by the Buddha, focus on mind and body, and enter into samadhi (meditation) to fully know the coming and going of consciousness.
