Why do all Deities like people to do good deeds? Because the Asuras were jealous of the Deities for having the nectar (heavenly spiritual wine), and the Deities desired the beauty of the Asuras' women, wars often broke out between them. When Indra knew that Asura was about to come to fight, he sent angels to the world to investigate. If there are more people doing good deeds, the heavenly beings will definitely win, and if there are more people doing evil, the heavenly beings may fail. Therefore, the deities encourage people to be good and will punish evil people. If there are many good people, there will be many dependents of the deities; if there are many evil people, there will also be many dependents of the Asuras. Because of this reason, all Deities hope that all sentient beings will diligently practice good deeds and eliminate their sins. This is why Indra teaches sentient beings, and it is also the only way of salvation.
