There is no light of sun and moon in that place, but has itself own kind of light. This kind of light is always available, so there is no day or night in that place.
Yāma is also called " Suyāma". Yāma and Suyāma are both Sanskrit. When translated into Chinese, it is called "Good Time". Say that place is very nice at that time. Why? It has no day or night and is always bright, so it is called "good time". So how does it distinguish day and night? The lotus flower opens and closes to distinguish it from day to night. When the lotus is in bloom, it is day; when the lotus is closed, it is night. There is no darkness, no distinction between day and night, everything is bright; everyone's body also has light. People like this are called "Suyāma". The person who lives here is two hundred and twenty-five feet long, and his lifespan is two thousand years, twice as long as Trāyastriṃśa. Therefore, if the sky is one level higher, the life span will be longer; if the sky is one level lower, the life span will be shorter.
