Pure Land Buddhism
Amitābha

After countless eons of effort, his boundless willpower finally enabled him to create the most ideal world in the universe—the Western Sukhavati. From then on, he became Amitabha Buddha, praised by all the Buddhas of the ten directions. Sentient beings attain the Western Pure Land of Supreme Bliss through the single-minded repetition of his name. In the Western Pure Land of Supreme Bliss, there are no evil realms, and one encounters great Bodhisattvas such as Avalokiteshvara, Mahasthamaprapta, Manjushri, and Samantabhadra. One can hear and receive the Dharma and enjoy an endless lifespan. One can also know the thoughts and destinies of other beings in various places and gain wisdom equal to that of the Buddha.

In a degenerate age, a simple Buddhist practice that anyone could resort to for enlightenment: devotion to Amitābha Buddha as expressed in the nembutsu. Thanks to Amitābha's compassion, beings are born in the Pure Land (Sukhāvatī in Sanskrit) where they can achieve enlightenment more easily.

Several internationally renowned Buddhist masters and teachers in contemporary times are not only fluent in English (most are native speakers or have studied in the West), but also adept at translating profound Buddhist teachings into humorous, vivid, and relatable language, achieving high online readership. Yes, it perfectly aligns with the core tenets of Buddhism. In Buddhist scriptures, this concept evolved from the principles of "A Mind That Embraces the Vast Emptiness; A Heart Boundless as Myriad Worlds." and "all phenomena arise from the mind." Buddhism believes that a person's "true mind" (or Buddha-nature, innate awareness) is inherently...
In Buddhist teachings and the teachings of Master Hsuan Hua, those on the path of spiritual practice are guided to experience the benefits of "physical sanctity" (i.e., abstaining from lust, refraining from sexual activity, and purifying body and mind). The core of this guidance lies in seeing through illusions, transforming energy, and recognizing...
How can we use Buddhist teachings to help high school students who are struggling academically overcome their feelings of frustration?
In Buddhist lectures (such as Buddhist studies classes, Dharma talks, and meditation classes), the core of interaction with students lies in transforming profound Buddhist teachings (principles) into relatable, everyday experiences (practice). Facilitators should maintain a compassionate and inclusive mindset, establishing two-way communication....
When explaining Buddhism to high school students, it is recommended to break away from the traditional stereotype of "burning incense and praying" and approach it from the perspectives of philosophy, psychology, and life philosophy. High school students are at a stage of self-exploration and facing academic pressure, so using modern language and...

Studying Buddhism is fundamentally different from high school secular studies in both its "essence" and "purpose." Studying Buddhism in middle age is a process of spiritual subtraction and awareness, not a cramming of knowledge. It is recommended that you do not schedule your courses too intensively.
This ten-year Buddhist practice plan focuses on "gradual progression" and "implementation": from establishing right faith and taming body and mind, to delving into the scriptures and practicing altruism. Practice is unhurried, integrating Buddhist teachings into daily life, ensuring solid progress step by step.
Spiritual practice and learning do not necessarily require shaving one's head and becoming a monk. From enduring the small, insignificant experience of a mosquito bite to facing the grander aspects of life and the times, the core is cultivating awareness and compassion. At the minute level, it's about subduing one's intuitive reactions; at the...
I heard Venerable Master Hsuan Hua talk about the fragrant ocean in the Avatamsaka Sutra, but I didn't have the chance to see it.

Lecture by Master Mèng-cen
Especially in the Dharma-ending Age, there are quite a lot of evil ghosts and gods around us. Even those who show mercy do good, when they are dying, hundreds and thousands of ghosts and gods will come and disturb you, change into your relatives, lead you to fall, not to mention those who do evil.
臨終時身不由己,鬼神引你入惡道

Lotus Sutra Ch.26 Dhāraṇī
Lecture by the Venerable Master Hsuan Hua
Some people can't read, how do they adhiṣṭhāna this Lotus Sutra?
Chant "Namo Lotus Sutra" concentratedly, read the name of the sutra only, is the same as reading the whole of the sutra. Because you can't read, and this is a way. Another way is that you can ask someone to help you adhiṣṭhāna it, ask someone to read it for you, ask someone to explain it for you, and ask someone to write it for you.
